Foundation to Future | Canadian National Gathering

Foundation to Future

Every three years Christian Reformed churches from Canada gather to discern and explore what God’s call is for us as a community of churches in Canada. The next Canadian National Gathering will be May 28-31, 2026, at Redeemer University in Ancaster, Ont.

The theme for the 2026 Canadian National Gathering is Foundation to Future

The Gathering will intentionally reflect on the history of the CRC in Canada, recognizing it as the foundation that has shaped the present. From this shared history, the focus will shift to how churches from across Canada can build on the strongest elements of that foundation to support one another and move forward together into a healthy and vibrant future.

Six Stream Focus

The steering team has identified six streams that participants will be exploring intentionally throughout the Gathering. While there are certainly more than six important areas of ministry, the team believes that these streams represent key priorities for churches across Canada right now. Each participant will be assigned to one stream, where they will engage deeply in that ministry area alongside others.

The six identified streams are:

  • Leadership ecosystem
  • Conflict navigation
  • Children and youth faith formation
  • Discipleship pathways
  • Community outreach
  • Building authentic community

Looking for Your Recommendations

If you know someone who would be a strong fit to engage deeply in one of these six streams, the organizers of the Gathering want to hear from you. This recommendation form helps identify participants from across Canada who bring a variety of perspectives, experiences, and gifts to the 2026 Canadian National Gathering.

The recommendation process is designed to ensure broad representation from each classis, and to intentionally draw on the competencies of different participants, including young adults and Canadian ministry board members. Recommendations will be viewed on an ongoing basis, and individuals who are recommended will be contracted directly.

This process is intended to help shape a diverse and well-rounded group who can meaningfully contribute to the depth and learning of each stream.

Make a recommendation.

What is the Canadian National Gathering?

Springing from a 2013 report to the Board of Trustees of the CRCNA on “Cultivating Binationality in the CRCNA” (see Acts of Synod 2014, pp. 432, 440-42), the Canadian National Gathering is a time to strategically celebrate, discern, and envision bold next steps for the CRC in Canada locally, regionally, and nationally. Gatherings of this type are held in Canada every three years as a way to have national conversations about ministry both in local congregations and as a national and binational church.
